1/2 marathon

My MIL says nothing about my weight, but I have decided that I am going to run my first 1/2 marathon in Jan 07.  I'm not a runner, so this will be a challenge for me on many levels.  I've noticed a difference in my weight already in my 1st month of training.  Wish me luck.

Good luck to you! That is awesome. I am not a runner by any stretch of the imagination, and I think it takes a lot of will power to run for such long distance. GOOD FOR YOU!
My MIL does not comment about my weight either, she is a rather large woman, so it would be tacky of her to do so. But I started a diet recently and lost 16 and 1/2 pounds so far and she would choke herself before she said she noticed it! The last gathering we were at, several people noticed I had lost weight and complimented me on how I looked. She just got that glassy, deer-in-the-headlights look and walked away. Put she got pissy with my husband when he didn't notice that she lost 5 pounds!!! Go figure. Keep us posted on your marathon!

You'll have to share your diet information.  My MIL doesn't make any comments directly to me.  I really wish she would, because unlike my DH and his family, I would gladly respond....congrats on the weight loss.

RE: 1/2 marathon

Well, I have to be honest I am getting "medical" help! I am on a prescription called Phentermine. My doctor put me on it because I was really tired all the time, I could barely get in the door from work and would have to take a nap before supper and then I would fall asleep on the couch watching tv at night. Everyone knows that if you eat and go to sleep, you really gain!!  It gives me more energy and helps with my appetite. Plus I have a Gazelle Glider that I ride on for 1-3 miles a day. And my hubby and I are coaching our kids' activities, so that helps a bunch, chasing after all those little ones. I also made myself grab a healthy snack if hungry. The only "junk" kind of food that I have in my house are mixes. It is easier to say NO if i have to bake a cake or cookies first. I usually grab an apple or cheese or something like that. I am so much happier though, I can't wait to see how the next few months go!! Thanks for the encouragment!
