How to you find the balance between supporting your husband in his relationship with your MIL while still keeping yourself sane?

I want to be behind my man in whatever he wants to do, but also I want him to consider how they make me feel. I know he does that and won't let them hurt me. But I don't want to be the reason he doesn't speak to them (hope that makes sense)
