Do you like your in-laws' cooking?

I do not really like to eat all what my mil cooks. But we get invited, and I have to. Only this year did I confront her of something she made and told her I don't want to eat bec I don't like it. it was ok with her.

My MIL doesnt really cook, she tries occationally (with much fanfair I may Add) However I have to confess she is the one who taught me (before I was told to forget her) how to make Cafe con leche. Which now my DH says is better then hers. He never fails to make me feel good.

OH my Lord that is how it was with my mother in law. All of the holidays were spent at my house because I cooked. And she never even offered money or help or anything. And then she would request that I made the things she liked the most and bring them to her house.

My mil invites us to eat at a certain time then runs way behind and acts very angry and put upon by having to rush around and cook for everyone. Even Princess Katelyn will tell you to stay out of the kitchen cause mimi gets ill when she cooks! LOL! We love her old fashioned country cooking but the atmospere will kill your appetite before the meal ever gets finished!

My mil has never cooked in her life I think!  She lived with her mother who did the cooking until she died and then dear mil started ordering her meals.

No I do not like my MIL's cooking. Besides the house being a filth pit, everything she cooks is laden and swimming in grease, has no seasoning and is never very health concious. Its....just gross. Even my hubby prefers my cooking over hers and has told her so. And I think that may very well be one of the nails in her fat hide regarding me. LOL I don't give a flying care!!

When my mil dies, I will be the first one there, slamming the lid on the coffin shut and sealing it with holy water!!

RE: Do you like your in-laws' cooking?

The inlaws only know how to cook the bare minimum, as in "Hey! I manage to not burn water!"

But FMIL is really horrible at cooking- her favorite and "best" meal to make was Shit-on-a-shingle. And because they live in a predominatly Mexican area she tries to cook Mexican food. But ruins it, FH and his father was really happy to find out that I know how to cook yummy meals.

So, once to annoy FMIL I sent over homemade flour tortillas for FH and FFIL, and she went on about how fattening they are and all that nonsense.

Don't get me started on how they made iced tea. lol I think I might post something amusing about the nonsense she tells everyone.

RE: Do you like your in-laws' cooking?

My FMIL tries to cook, but Sean says my cooking is better than her's. I've made spagetti, pot roast, hamburgers, pork chops, and tons of other stuff for him and he says it's all been better than her cooking. :) Last time we were there, she made us fried chicken and it was so dry I couldn't stand it. I didn't tell her, though.

I would like to make meatballs for them sometime. It's my mom's recipe of ketchup or A1 in grape jelly and letting them melt together. Then, slow-cook meatballs for a few hours in a crock pot in the mixture. It's really good. Sean tried it when my mom made it for a party and he's wanted me to make it ever since. LOL. His mom doesn't have any recipes like that. It makes me feel special knowing that I'm better than her in many things.

I do like my stepFFIL's cooking. He's made us eggs and bacon when we were over there. Sean likes my scrambled eggs more, though, because I use a microwave and mixing in cheese, meat, peppers, etc. I love cooking. I need to do it more often. The funniest thing is that FMIL gave Sean her old spice rack and I use it more often than she ever did. I made hamburgers the other day using a sauce mixture of A1 and ketchup. Sean LOVED it.

RE: Do you like your in-laws' cooking?

Omg! I made dinner for my FMIL, FBIL, FH, and their friends last night. I cooked a 1 1/2 pound turkey and mixed veggies in a crockpot with Italian dressing and water. It was awesome. I also made some stuffing and got some mashed potatoes and gravy. I rock. My FH loves my cooking more than his mother's and stepdad's!
