Have you ever

Have you ever asked you MIL to give you some of her recipes that your hubby likes so you can cook them for him. I did a number of times and never got a one. So hubby asked oneday when I wasn't there and she gave him two. What a butt.

RE: Have you ever

see why did she have to be that way about you cooking. she should be happy you wanted to please your husband with the dishes. that was tacky of her. she should have said that your dishes were very good, not respond like that. the nerve.

RE: Have you ever

I totally agree with you Marinewife. Our MIL's should be grateful that we care enough about their sons to even attempt to make their favorite dishes

That sounds about right, however multiply it by about five (over everything not just recipes!) and add some spiteful comments behind your back, am not trying to one-up you, am just venting, my mother in law is HORRIBLE!!!!!

RE: Have you ever

I like to cook for my man and he told her about this one dish that I made for him (a pork roast) and she spent all of her time while she was cooking about what I should do differently next time.... blah blah blah. I got the recipe I used from my stepdad, thank you very much!

My FMIL is horrible!

RE: Have you ever

I actually detest MILs cooking and food so I would never request recipes from her, no matter how much DH likes them. I told him if he wants certain things, he can learn how himself (yeah right) or he can visit her and ask her to make them. So far he does that, but it leaves me in a sucky situation as I get stuck eating the crap every time we go over there and it makes me ill for days. My sister for our wedding at the bridal shower requested family and friends to bring two favorite recipes each to the shower and she created a lovely recipe collection for me. In it MIL included two of hers. I know what they are and they will forever sit in the box collecting dust. I will never make her stuffing for turkey, ick. I use a variation of my mom's (making it my own) and everyone always compliments it (except MIL who complains that some ingredients are left out of her stuffing...duh...I didn't make her stuffing). So if everyone else, including DH seems to like it, I will never make hers. And because of that, it never occurred to me that she may have left ingredients out. I am not sure she would be that clever. Lying and guilt is her strong suit, not total deception.

I may be treated like a doormat, but I don't like to be walked all over.

My mils cooking is not very good either everything is frozen or comes out of a box! except for the recipe that dh wanted it was oyster stuffing. when i read the recipe i knew there were things missing so i got on line and found a recipe and dh liked it better than mils!
