RE: I'm being blamed for my son's developmental disability

"My SIL had the nerve to tell me over the phone that when my son was small that "I missed the mark" and "I didn't give him what he needed when he was a baby" and that's why my son is the way he is."

Would you allow someone like this in your life if they wernt  a "relative"?

I wanted to address this cruel remark seperately. This isnt ignorance its just plain meanness. This women needs a course in compassion before she deals with anymore of her patients. Its too bad but there are a lot of smucks out there like that.   My sister gave birth to a baby that died 12 hours later from a serious heart condition and she had a "relative" write her a letter, the letter said that the baby died because my sister was a sinner and it was a punishment from God and my sister needed to  repent. My sister hasnt spoken to this "relative" in 12 years. (and this reminds me of what my mil said when baby Benj died,, grrr)

My MIL drives a '1986' luxury wooden single seater broomstick with a sidecar attached for her only son.

Autism is in a child's genetic makeup, it is not a parent's fault if their child has autism.

Tell them to do some research written by real medical professionals before they start trying to blame you.  That is just ignorant.
