Is this gross or what?

Icon_rolleyesMIL's house and ways of keeping it just make me sick. Here's the scenario; she lives there, and her husband who is gone like 99% of the time because he drives a semi, ok then also living there is 35 year old sister in law who is a total lump of stupidity.(one of these days I will post more about her) then the oldest brother who is like fourty four and his two boys by a previous marriage who are eleven and thirteen. Next to the youngest brother who is 34 lives there too. The SIL and two BIL's were all married at one time and my hubby was also married before me, MIL ruined all of their relationships with their respective spouses and now they are home with her, except for my husband, which is where they belong according to MIL. Ok all of those people wouldn't be so bad, but they all live in a rundown two bedroom house with only one bathroom. They have five ferrets which are allowed to run free in the house, if you have ever smelled a ferret you will know what I'm talking about here, the ferrets are cute but they are not litter box trained and ferrets usually go potty/poo about every ten to fifteen minutes because they have very little in the way of a digestive system. And when they go it's runny and smells like real strong cat poop. Ok that mess is in all of the corners of every room in the house. The stench is incredible. And all the ferrets are flea ridden. When I go over there I try to avoid stepping anywhere until I have looked at where my feet are going to land, because if you don't then you are really going to be up crap creek without a paddle literally. The ferret poo is even in the damn kitchen!! And MIL nor anyone rarely ever cleans the floor except for maybe once a month or so. It's so nasty!! There is also a big tom cat she keeps in the house who sprays everything making the smell that much worse and cat hair is everywhere. Don't get me wrong I love animals but I mean damn be a responsible pet owner instead of a pig! And there is a pit bull puppy that belongs to my SIL that is also NOT house broken. UGH!!! Needless to say, hubby and I don't go over there much and when I met him he was the only single family member who lived in his own house apart from his moms. The two boys of my brother in law are constantly told about what a bad person their mother is and what a big whore and that she doesn't love them. This isn't true at all. However, she does have a drug problem that she is having treated. And those two boys are unable to have a life like other kids because MIL won't let them. Their dad is also a trucker so they are with mil alone alot. She won't let them go over to friend's houses, nor will she let them watch normal tv, they have to always watch the religion channel or nothing and are not allowed to listen to regular music but must always listen to religious stuff. It's sad really. The oldest boy has suicidal tendencies, hmmm wonder why? When she cooks the dishes are never done, and the leftover food is not covered and is left out overnight. YECK. My father in law is a good man. I like him and get along with him just fine. He's hardly ever there. He brings in all the money in the whole house. MIL sits on her fat butt in front of the computer all day playing mahjong or reading bible scripture which apparently she interprets in ways much differently than anyone I've ever known, it always serves her own selfish needs and jealous ways. It makes me want to puke. I called social services last summer when the youngest boy ate a piece of cake that had fallen to the floor among the ferret crap. It just made me *shiver* sick. They were on watch for awhile until the heat was off and then it was back to the same old filty disgusting mess again. So I gave up. If they want to live in a pig sty let them. But I'm not going to and never will. Hubby loves the way I keep things clean and orderly and even said as much that he was glad he didn't live over there because everything smelled like S**T. Isn't that gross though? It's disgusting and unsanitary. Ugh!!

When my mil dies, I will be the first one there, slamming the lid on the coffin shut and sealing it with holy water!!

RE: Is this gross or what?

I am sitting here stunned. You made me go clean my house.  You reminded me of the mistake I made once of caving in to my kids begging to own ferrots. We bought three. The kids had to clean the cage EVERY day. They were descented and we sprayed them with "stink be gone" every other day with their bath.  Sadly(lol) the ferrots slowly dissapeared one by one.  Altho the very last one did die of nateral causes.
I have to wonder if your MIL's ferrots are friendly and if they will eat out of your hand. Or if that doesnt work then slip a little ferrot TREAT into the cage and dont forget to tell your MIL that cleanlyness is next to godlyness and its in the bible someplace.

OMG that is just awful!!!!! I feel dirty just reading that! I don't blame you for not wanting to go over there and for calling social services. Those kids need to get out of there.

RE: Is this gross or what?

*shiver*  I had a friend who lived like that.  My FMIL lives in Australia, and in bushland at that, and lives quite happily with insects. I don't just mean a couple spiders and maybe some ants, I'm talking about MANY spiders, mosquitoes in the house all the time, many other critters that would make your hair stand on end.  They leave windows and doors wide open with NO SCREENS - it boggles the mind.  Then when a snake makes its way in, looking for goodies to eat, they shrug it off and catch it and toss it outside. It's a different way of life, to be sure. If I lived there, at the very least I'd shut my door and use screens! LOL!

I have to shudder with the snake thing. I hate snakes. But unfortunately we have rattle snakes here. I had one crawl inside my dryer vent and when I took the clean dry clothes out of the dryer "Viola" dead rattle snake.

Oh my God. what if one of those things crawled into their bed at night and they wernt awake anough to just "throw it out". No wonder you dont want to live there.

RE: Is this gross or what?

I just took a bath and found this. I can't belive it and I'd keep calling SRS on that woman's ass. I realy don't know what to say. I am glad that I don't know them because I have the problem of cleaning/over cleaning my house. My husband tells me to relax and I can't. I like my house clean! Hubby takes the oldest boy to scouts tonight and I am free to clean to my hearts content:) If I lived with those dirty people I would have killed the faretts with cleaner all ready and would have died cleaning the house. I can't walk bare foot over any kitchen floor because if I feel dirt on it I clean it. I spent a year living with the IL's and thats all I did was clean. For my last birthday I got a "Ultimate Scrubber" from my MIL and I love it. I vacume once every other day and I throw out things we have never used. - I finally found out why I clean so much. There are alot of things I can't controll in my life so I know I can controll just how clean my living space is. I found my youngest put buggars on his bedroom wall and I used every thing I had to get them off. ---- I fined myslef wanting to clean you MIL's house.

Animals

I don't mean to be a nag or party-pooper (no pun intended!), but it really does make me upset that people would harm innocent animals just because their "owner" does not take good care of them.

Please - this is not the fault of the ferrets (or cat or dog). They are already being neglected; don't add abuse to the mix. They should be saved and adopted into good, loving, caring (and clean!) homes where they can get the life they deserve.

RE: Is this gross or what?

Oh man, that is just nasty...I'm a clean freak and that house would be a nightmare for me!!!
My ex inlaws place is nasty, though not that bad...there's is better than it was...I lived there (shudder) for a month and scrubbed the walls and steam cleaned the carpets.  Oh my god, the water that I dumped out was black and stunk like urine!!!!!!  They had had animals throughout the years but none recently...they just never cleaned up after them when they messed, which they did all the time!  Even after my clean sweep and constant candle lighting (much to my EXMIL's dismay and her words "why do you light candles, do you think my house smells??" Uh yeah!!!), there is still this lingering stence that I can't fugure out.  It might be from the carpet and furniture...which will never be clean, or it could be the stench of unwashed bodies, or most probably it's the water.  They have the nastiest well water that they bathe in and drink!!!!  It turns the sinks, toilet, and white clothes thins dingy yellow color.  Can you imagine drinking that!?!?  And now with EXSIL and fiance smoking in there like chimneys, it stinks!!  I have to ride with the windows of the car down when I pick my daughter up from there (judge ordered visitation, definitely not my idea). I can't count how much clothing has been riuined from her being there.

The only way your evil MIL will leave you alone is by death...even divorce can't save you!!

RE: Is this gross or what?

The animal thing you can deal with by calling animal control. If they see these animals living in these conditions, they will take them away and try and get them adopted. NO animal deserves to live like that.

I'm not a neat person by any means...and that grosses the hell out of me. Those poor kids. Do they have clean clothes and decent food? If not, CPS ought to be called, because that's a crime. Trust me, they have been called for less.
