Ok, first off........how'd you get him to go to therapy??  I know if I mentioned this my husband would FLIP OUT!  He thinks there is nothing wrong with his relationship with his mommy.  I'm starting to feel like I need the therapy!  I can totally relate to the running to mom everytime something happens.  My husband talks to his mother and his sister at least 5-8 time DAILY.  I think honestly they call each other when the mail comes............

Well, since your hubby sounds like he is willing to see a therapist, that's a good sign.  Since his mother helped create the situation, I think she should consider going as well - make it a family event a couple of times. The therapist can then speak to all of you at the same time and explain how to best help your hubby deal with his issues.

To be honest, if my children- when adult- called me with problems, I would feel it was my job to listen, be supportive, and give support. It probably wouldn't enter my mind to say "Did you run this phone call past your wife first? Have you discussed this with your wife first?".

I do have to say when I have talked to my parents; they do say... We'll listen but we won't comment because this is something you need to decide on yourself with dh; they agree to listen and be there but do not offer their opinions UNLESS they are either half joking or I am begging for advise (my dad had IL's like mine)
